I am wanting to get my tranny built as it keeps slipping and limping the fifth gear. I am just going to pull the tranny and either try rebuilding it myself which i dont think is to hard, but everyone here seems to think so. Is there a builder around ky somewhere that has a good reputation? Do you think the suncoast stage 3 is plenty for stock turbo/injectors with just a high efi tune? Or should i get the stage 4? money is kinda tight. I am just sick of the limping. Thats why i stuck with gm is b/c i heard good things about the ally, but i shoulda just got a dodge and saved a ton on the truck price... But owell, enough of my rambling. :) Thanks.

Walt's transmission in Bowling Green built my Allison.

Holding well so far. He's built quite a few more on here, all are having great results.

Whats he charge exactly? Did you pull the tranny and take it to him or did he have to pull it, build it and reinstall everything? Got a number for this guy? Thanks man.

x2 Great guy to do business with. IMO if it were me I would spend the extra couple hundred dollars and get the 4 if you can spring for it.

Well i want the stage 4 for reassurance even though i prolly, actually, i know i will never throw downt hat much power. I am just wanting the damn truck to pull on a high tune without limping, be able to handle red light/drag racing, and maybe if i get a wild hair a sled pull to see what it can do. I aint looking to get no 10-11.5 sec 1/4 mile truck. Just something that is respectable and reliable.

I have 3800 in the kit labor and everything. I took the truck up on a Sunday, and it was ready on the following Wed morning. Just drop it off and he'll take care of the rest.

Nice guy also..

I got the Stage IV/1056. No braces, that price is the Kit, Converter, Labor, Fluid and ALL installed. Fleece prices was quite a bit more if I remember correctly, that's why I skipped them.

For which converter, Mike L would be a good person to answer that question.

I do like my 1056!

The transfer case brace was I think 125 through Suncoast. Its worth it IMO especially if you plan on adding more power.

Did you get a 1 year warranty?

6 months.

Don't want to turn into a pissing match Brayden, I was quoted $4700 from your shop. That just wasn't in my budget, maybe next time on the new truck. That $900 I saved bought a lift pump and quite of few other things...:)

yeah i am with dieselholic on that one, saving almost a grand and losing 6months is ok with me. That will give me money for a fass fuel kit, and some for efi live. I emailed you (braiden) about 3 days ago for a price quote and still havent heard back anything?

If you sent the email on Friday I was crawling all over trucks :) I'll get back to you.

No problem with saving some money, I know the transmissions are pricey.. but definately not something you want to pay twice for, and a lot of shops are tossing alto clutches in and calling them a stage IV. If the box doesn't say Suncoast then you're not getting a stage IV kit. That's all I want to get across.

Thanks,

Brayden

I get a lot of calls on these concerning clutch clearance as out the box they usually don't stack up with sufficient clearnace. Suncoast puts there logo on the bottom apply plate in there stage IV kit--if the plate doesn't have the logo, it not a Suncoast kit. There are some priates out there passing stuff off as Suncoast, as Brayden says.

X2, well said Brayden. You get what you pay for and the warranty states that Brayden will stand behind his work. I have customers that are running his SCIV and love them.

x3 I agree with Mark and Brayden. I have one of Brayden's SCIV and I love it. I beat on it all season sled pulling and then Mark beat it on drag racing. And I can still drive it on the street with no problems at all. The warranty is great to.
