P0236 is the code i got what does that mean (Turbocharger Boost Sensor (A) Circ Range/Performance)
What do i have to buy because it only throws it sometimes?
Lots of smoke and no power when it is throughin.
After it is cleared with the reader it is good for a while.
Thanks

It means you are making more or less boost than the ecm is looking for.

Less i am sure because of all the black smoke.

Now is the wastegate solenoid what i need?

You have to measure the vacuum to know that. Look for 15" Hg at turbo at idle and 25" Hg before the solenoid. Solenoid is highly likely but it could be a line that came out or similar.

yeah i have had this code about a dozen times. mine is the result of too much boost for the map sensor. you might also get a po238 (i think). this is generally of the same symptoms. but if yours is smokin than you definately aint gettin too much boost.

I am getting 16" hg at idle at the wastegate.
But if i shut it off and restart it no vacuum, i rev it up let it idle 16" hg at wastegate.
I thinks it the solenoid

Dealer part. You might try printing the www.gmpartsdirect.com (http://www.gmpartsdirect.com) price and seeing if the local dealer will come down off the usual $30 for Part # 01997227 the online price is $16.

do you agree with me that is what my problem is QM?

If you've a volmeter at hand, measure voltage going to the wastegate solenoid _while you have no vacuum_. You should read about 12V on one of the contacts on the plug that plugs into the solenoid; the other contact is ground.

If you get 12V but have no vacuum, it can be the solenoid. But you should also check the vacuum directly at the pump --- it's possible that the pump quits working once you rev up and doesn't produce vacuum until you shut the engine off.

If you don't have 12V, check the wiring. --- Wiring on mine was broken very, very close to the plug, and the vacuum pump had failed.

It's only good for a year ot two. once the little steel ball inside rusts it's on it's way out but make sure the vac line didn't pull out of a boot or have a crack in it.

I will check that guys thanks again for the info.

I changed the solenoid out today and cleaned the rad and K&N and man what a differents in temp and performance.
Thanks again for the info
