: Quietest Exhaust

I know that theme has been discussed to death! I am looking for the quietest exhaust possible - don't like the drone between 1600...1800 RPM at all.
Knowing that exhaust noise is very subjective I am still confused which exhaust is really quiet. The MBRP looks good but is twice as loud as the OEM according to a website (3 dB louder that stock) while TTS claims only 1 dB louder than stock. The sound file of Kennedys exhaust sounds very good - no drone but lots of turbo hiss which is not a problem. I like to install catless to get rid of that drone and lower EGTs. Some rumble during acceleration is nice but the exhaust should be as quiet as possible when cruising any faster than 50 miles/hour.
So which exhaust is really the quietest? I don't think OEM is quiet since the cat pipe produces the infamous drone sound. I also don't want the welding kit on that bent cat pipe to fight the drone between 1600 ...1800 RPM.

Thanks in advance!

BANKS cat-back is pretty quite in my opinion. I have it and like. Not really much louder than stock....I think.

mahalkita,

If you keep the cat in place any of the major brands will be very close as far as volume goes. The cat east so much of the noise as does the turbo. We have available all of the MBRP cat back in aluminized, 409 and 304 stainless in singles and duals. Give us a call if you have any questions etc.

I have a Banks, then added a MBRP resonator from Mark Craig in front (in CAT area) of the muffler to quiet it down even more....close to stock.

Thank you all!
Will check into the exhaust from TTS, looks like they have the largest muffler and quietest exhaust. The resonator in the front might be a good idea.

i installed the borla on my 04 lb7 and it was absolutely terrible. it was so loud i could not talk to the people in the back seat and the cell phone conversations were impossible. i will never buy their system again for a diesel. last week i finished the install on the M.B.R.P. system for my gmc and it is great, i even reversed the muffler to make it a little more quiet. M.B.R.P.A+ BORLA D-

My truck with the TTS exhaust allows me to ( at 90 mph) play the radio with the air on and talk to people in the back seat with no trouble at all. No drone. Don't need a resonator.

Wow. I run a straight pipe and it's not that loud. I can even hear the kids in the back seats fighting.

So you'd suggest the Borla? :D
