Diesel Power Mahazine [Nov 09] just published a real world test that showed a 1.0 MPG increase just using two-cycle oil and 1.5 MPG using Opti-Lube and FPPF 8. I had always belived the claims for additives were inflated. Anyone have experience Pro or Con????

I have not saw a mileage increase using the 2-stroke. The advantage I see is a more quiet engine and piece of mine knowing my fuel movers are getting some lubrication.

I guess if you put a gallon of oil in your tank, you'll get a little more mileage just because of the added volume.....

What percentages oil to fuel did they use?
I like the quietness of my truck with it but have seen no fuel mileage increases. In fact if I over oil (more than about 3/4 ounce to a gallon) I seem to get LESS fuel mileage.

I am running 1 oz. per gallon. Maybe its like running it in a motorcycle, the richer the mixture the less power?

When I purchased my DMAX in May 2009 I made a few trips and checked mileage. I was getting 14 mpg towing my boat and a solid 20 mpg on the freeway...around town 17 if I drove easy (Very little city driving). I quickly made a few mods at the same time. I starting using Opti-Lube XPD, changed the oil (Amsoil) motor & differential. Replaced the stock LLY MP with an LBX MP. Installed a EGR blocker plate and installed at TCAI air box. Same trips with the boat and I've gotten as high as 15.5 towing (Depends of Temp/Wind Condition) around town no difference, but I drive very few city miles. On the highway I've clicked as high as 24 mpg when really striving to get the best mileage. When I stopped using Opti-Lube as a test I lost around .5 mpg. I use Opti-Lube hopefully to keep the injectors lubricated. Any additional mpg's is a bonus.

I pour in 16oz of 2-cycle oil to about 20 gallons. I can't say I have seen an increase in mileage because of the oil. My mileage has been going up the more miles I put on the truck.

The best I have gotten is 21.8. Thats is running 55 to 60 on a farley good road. I sure wish I could get 24 miles to the gallon, but I don't see my truck doing much better than what it is doing right now.

I use Opti-Lube at 1/2 oz per gallon. On a trip to Oregon from California I got 19 to 20 mpg on the north bound leg, and a tad over 22 mpg from Bend to Redding on the south bound leg! After Redding, I averaged 18 to 19 mpg as traffic picked up the closer to the S.F. Bay Area I got. Opti-Lube Diesel Fuel Enhancer seems to work for some mileage gain, although I'm more interested in the lubricity increase for pump and injectors. Like anything else, it depends more on my impatience, right foot weight and terrain. around town mileage is always between 15 and 17 depending on traffic.

I use 1/2 oz per gal of Power service fuel treatment. The highest i have gotten MPG wise was 23.3 running off the interstate. Once you leave the sweet spot (55) it drops pretty quick down to 20.5-20.7. Im not complaining, it still better than my 02 with the 6.0L gas.

I have been running 2 cycle oil in my truck since I bought it. 1 qt to a fill up, usually around 30 gallons. driving to and from work which is usually around 200 miles a day I get 16 mpg every time I fill up, well a few weeks ago I didnt have any 2 cycle oil with me but filled the truck up and ran it for a couple days untill I needed to fill up again and I got 17 mpg. So the oil is actually decreasing my milage by 1mpg but would rather have peace of mine knowing Im lubing it up.

How about a pint per 22gals. that's how mine worked the best.

I'm a Stanadyne guy and rotate between the lube and performance formula. Never seen a "documentable" increase. Driving at 68MPH though I can get 22+ MPG. That is the highest and repeatable but high 21's is more the norm.

Just put in the first treatment of Stanadyne performance yesterday. My mpg has dropped by 1 mpg since the dealer had it to replace the leaking trans cooler line 2 weeks ago!! Figured I would give it a try and see if it helps any.....time will tell.

i use power service as an additive i don't measure what i put in the tank when i refuel but the engine runs really smooth . with a 55 gallon capacity i fill up after i use up about 15 gallons so there is no sticker shock. but on a recent trip i drove 70 mph and was getting 21.8 mpg and on the return trip my wife drove back at 77mph and got 20.7 mpg the edge programmer was set on economy.i'd like to get 24 mpg all day long but unlikely.but a guy can dream can't he!!!:)
