Howdy fellas!

I'm so excited to go get my new truck on Friday!! I've been without a Dmax since February and it's been horrible. Anyhow, I'm buying a white 2002 Chevrolet dually crew cab LS 4x4. It has the LB7/Allison 5 speed combo right now. I'm not gonna do any swapping until the Allison tranny needs replacement, but I want to possibly start collecting parts to swap over to a ZF-6.

Anyone know where I can get a good working, but used ZF-6 and appropriate transfer case reasonably priced?

The rest of the stuff shouldn't be too bad to get. The trannys I've found so far are rebuilt and so expensive!! I was looking at just beefing up the Alli, but I believe that it'll cost as much, if not more, than just swapping to a stick (and having exactly what I want).

Maybe I just want to find a ZF 4x4 truck that's salvaged and/or with a blown engine? Then I'll have every single part I need. There was a ZF dually extended cab with no bed on it on ebay a few weeks ago. It needed engine work (it had a miss), but the tranny/T-case were good. I think that was like 4 or 5 grand for the whole truck, and it didn't sell. I just don't have that kind of money all at once, that's why I was looking at just buying the parts individually and storing them til I need them.

Any advice would be great!
Thanks
-Rick

If the dually you bought has floor shift it will work fine,if it has electric shift it will work as well but not sure if it needs tuned or not. You'll have to tune for the trans swap. I know where a wrecked one is but they want new price for the parts  . If I see something I'll let you know. I'm looking for a spare trans myself but in no rush.

I think $1800 but IDK for sure. I PM'd him on another site because he hasn't been here in a while and told him to get over here and answer questions :D. Haha

Do you know roughly what he gets for them?

I guess that's not too bad for a rebuilt...but maybe he has a good used one sitting around too?? I found him on here...looks like he's in MN too!! That would definitely make things easier if he's close to me.

Thanks for PMing him. Hopefully he'll hop on soon!! I'll be heading out of Minneapolis here in about 5 hours or so to go down to Decatur and get my snazzy new ride!

Hey 01duramax6spd, where is SoGrand located? isn't he in Indiana? I pulling my trans this winter to upgrade my SBC DD to their newer design and was thinking of have my trans
R&R'd while the clutch was at SBC. You think it would be worth it to have him go through it. I have 115K on the beast. Mostly about 70k highway miles.
