please see my sig for accoutrements.

things have been running great. i just did a 4,000 mile tow with 9k pounds loaded on way out and 3,500# empty return. ran like a champ.

then, all of the sudden, running level 3 with low boost at 5, i'm merging onto a curved on-ramp at about 20 mph and need to speed up quick so i put down the hammer. starts to go then sputters like it's starving for fuel. so much that the guy i'm trying to get a jump on probably noticed the sputtering. hmmm... this is very strange. problem seems to flatten out, then i begin to wonder if i have all the power i'm used to.

i have not been able to get it to do the big 'sputter-starve' again, it has been more gradual.

from a stop, it can still spin em. but, it just does not seem to be free flowing on the highway. on 5/5 t-h, i can still fluff out a black cloud, but maybe not as huge as i've seen in the past.

i'm pretty sure it's the fuel filter, and i'll know for sure in the next couple days when i swap it, but i just changed it 6k miles ago!

:help:

so, here's my question.... have you had a filter go bad this fast before? is it possible that stopping at 20 different fueling stops off the highway, that i have not been to before, that i pumped bad fuel in that did a quick clog? when i cut it open, what do i look for?

next question... is it possible my injectors are bad, or am i just being a hypochondriac?

edited to include: my injectors are original and have 94k miles.

btw... i posted some info in the 'truck down' forum on saturday from my blackberry from the road while this was happening, and the only problems since then seems to be lacking power.

thanks, scott.

EDITED: whoops... original thread relocated to this forum. i have 2 going. sorry.... please see: http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=33030
