I was wondering if there is anything that can be done to a stock LB7 turbo besides a wastegate? I wanted to try a few things before I could afford twins or ats 5000 turbo. I feal confident enough to do the mods if someone is willing to give me some pointers. I have been inside a turbo and done some port work on heads, so as long as one was very careful with the compressor, turbine and not upset any tolerances things should be fine. Or is not even worth thetime. Thanks Robert

Robert, a good friend of mine on the Northwest Bombers ported my turbo extensively.

go to www.nwbombers.com (http://www.nwbombers.com)

He goes by the screen name 'HDM48'

His name is Dave Miller. Hellova nice guy and does very good work.
He does work full time as a builder... specializing in high performance 2 strokes, diesels and some big cube gassers.

He ported my turbocharger last year. Made a 120F EGT difference and slightly quicker spool. With the banks wastegate added the drop was a total of 150F

Juice,
Am I understanding you correctly? You said the Banks wastegate also helped drop some of the EGT's? Just curious because I haven't heard that before. If that's the case then you probably just cost me some $$$!):h
If you don't mind me asking, what did he charge for the porting and how long did it take? (Please specify if Canadian or US cash.)

Sorry for costing ya money;) Can't take it with ya though:D

As far as the porting cost, Dave spent the better part of 4 hours on it. Because it was the first DMX turbo he did (my ebay special) he charged me a very bare minimum to port it.

I'd call him or PM him and ask what he would charge. I don't remember what he charged to do mine.:p:
