i was goin to buy the allison deep pan for $90 and it adds about 1 more gallon of fluid, i dont do much towing, time to time bring a car or dirt bike trailer to the track, i do about 1000 miles of towing a yr, my question is, will the trans run to cool if im not pulling all the time? or should i just leave it stock? im also going to add the trans-go

No you will not have any problem. It will warm up like normal. Also get the deep pan filter and be sure to apply the filter lock on it so it does not drop down.

It will not run cooler. The extra capacity will help extend the change interval. Be sure to go with a synthetic fluid (Mobil, Transynd, Amsoil, etc.).

Gasket is re-useable so take care on the removal if you go with the factory Allison deep pan.

Eric Merchant sells the kit which includes the pan and deep filter. He also has the Sun Coast filter lok. Cheap upgrade...no significant reason to upgrade to a deep pan except if you like working on your vehicles and doing upgrades.

This is a subject that is argued.
If you are getting an allison pan from my understanding it will just take longer to warm up, and longer for the fluid to get dirty as you have more.

However if you get a (I belive Mag-tec someone correct me if I am wrong) is one that make an aluminum pan with air cooling vanes. Same idea as an air cooled engine like a lawn mower. That should help drop your trans temps some. It will not be a big difference, but it should drop them some.

Depending on who you ask some will tell you the same as I just said, some will say it dosen't matter, just that you have more fluid takes longer to warm up but you will run the same temp.

I have one last thought for you.
Unless your trans is running hot for some reason, or you run some long fluid change intervals. You are probably better off with the factory pan. Reason being you aren't overheating or really getting your trans fluid hot. The amount of weight you tow is real low for the truck you have, and you do very little towing.

All that said, you will still see benifits (may not actually see but). Your fluid will last longer. If you change the fluid at the same intervals or you can go longer your trans will last longer cause the fluid will not get as dirty in the same amount of time.
