: HELP air conditioner temp
jhduramax 05-23-2005, 01:47 PM just had ac serviced b/c it was blowing too hot. They fixed it saying there was too much freon in it. They vacumed it out and refilled to correct amount. The air is blowing at 58-60 should I take it back? I have noticed in searches people reporting 40 degree air when it is 100 out. It is only 85-90 today in MS but it will get much hotter.
Thanks for you help
jeff
Max Payne 05-23-2005, 03:00 PM Be sure to measure it at the center vent, medium blower speed, recirc, windows up, 2000 RPM for 5 minutes just like the service manual says...
Ace_of_Chaos 05-23-2005, 08:41 PM And what should the temps be under those conditions, Max ?
My A/C is NOT :cool2: enough ! :exactly:
bob camire 05-23-2005, 08:59 PM mine went back 3 times before they got it right..now mine blows 46 degrees on a warm day around 85 degrees. it should be in the forties

Max Payne 05-23-2005, 09:07 PM I am sorry the spec sheet is hard to read, it won't come out right no matter what I try, it should look like a spreadsheet of sorts...
jhduramax 05-24-2005, 09:15 AM I took it back with some info from people on the board and how their ac was fixed. I hope they fix it b/c my jeep blows colder air with the top down and it being 100 out. Of course, they said we cant compare this to a jeep. To which I said a jeep brand new in 1998 cost 24000.00 and to this day no service on the ac. It is still colder than the 2002 duramax that cost 2x as much new?????? what the _____!!!!! Well we shall see what they do this time. I have never had an ac that was this hot..... I love the truck but it is too hot in MS for the ac not to work properly...
Thanks for you help,
jeff
Ace_of_Chaos 05-24-2005, 09:39 PM At 90Deg F, and about 80% humidity, cruising at 2000 rpm with a/c thermometer at center vent, I got at best 55DegF (takes quite a while to get there). If my pressures are right, does this temp sound about right ?
Thanks for all the info !!

Phoenix falls with in this part of the table most of the summer, with the humidity being higher later in the season.(already seeing temps. in the 110*+ range) So my A/C will just waste a lot of fuel and not cool the cab down, with vent temps. never getting below 80. It is truely amazing that the compressors stay in one piece w/ head pressures WELL over 300psi. With Honda/Acura(my day job) I would be able to do A/C work 24/7 during the summer replacing fragmented compressors. In the hottest part of the season if pressures get over about 250psi something is wrong, overcharge, inop. fan, damaged condensor, etc. I understand that these are two different style of systems, one being orfice tube/accum. and the other RFD/ exp. valve, but that is not good. Good thing I have two extra windows to roll down!
sgtdmax66 06-01-2005, 12:18 PM I don't know who puts coolant in these trucks, but, mine was way too full as well??????
problemchild 06-01-2005, 12:25 PM They replaced my acumulator (spelling?) and it blows ice chunks now in 15 seconds.
Its a TSB thats posted here. Let them know.
Mitchagain 06-01-2005, 01:44 PM I have had mine in Gilbert AZ going on 3rd summer. Wife complains that it will freeze her out. Me, I like it like that. I have a digital thermometer and it shows that the AC behaves as it should, i.e., output in the center duct seems to provide cool air at about 30 degrees below ambient. Because I like it cold in the cab, I run with the vents closed (Recirq on). Suffice it to say, I love mine! Fresh from the factory and no issues...... Now the heater, thats another issue. Passenger side just never gets as warm as the drivers side.

PC, if I send you a tray will you fill it with ice cubes and return it to me? :)
My low pressure switch was replaced when I complained ...it helped a little but still doesn't get nearly as cold as I expect it to get. My wifes VW TDI would give you frost bite if you held your hand in front of the vent. Heard the accumulator fix does wonders but difficult to get a dealer to swap it out.
