Does the autostart that comes factory installed heat the glow plugs before starting the truck?

Thanks guys.

Only if it needs to.

Okay, good to know. I thought it was just like any other remote starter.

Thanks.

But the delay is very short before it starts I have watched mine and at times I don`t think it has a long enough delay.
This is what I like about my new alarm/remote start system (in my sig)
There is a selection in the programming of the new alarm system that you can have a little longer delay before it starts with the remote.

Could just be my imagination, but after I had an ECM update last winter the delay on the remote start seemed to be longer than before. Before the update, it didn't seem to delay at all. It also sounds different as far as how close the sounds are when starting the truck now. Like I said I just took it in for the anti-theft update but they may have done other things to it as well. All I know is that it works pretty well. Plus when I start my truck myself in could weather, the wait to start light seems to be very short. Chris

The only complaint I had about the factory remote start was that the range was horrible. I went for an after market one after I figured this out. Much better now. The after market one also engages the glow plugs when the computer calls for it before hitting the starter.

Ah, yes I have had compustar on my past vehicles, how do you get it to delay for the glo plugs to heat?

You have to tap into the glow plug wire on the truck and the brain for the remote start waits until the current shuts off to the glow plugs. The brain has a connection labeled glow plugs.

You can also just use a timed delay like most aftermarket untis have for diesel but the wire makes it just like factory.

.............Interesting. I start mine from inside my work, though a pretty thick window between 75-100 yards from the window. I always thought that was pretty good.

When people at work see me do this, they ask what I'm doing. I tell them "starting my truck", they say BS, then come and watch :):D:cool:

For whatever reason mine was only good for about 100 feet. Tried batteries etc. Dealer reccomended the aftermarket kit and installed it. Also at work I have to park about 600 yrds from the building so I was pretty sure it would not work there but was surprised at how short it would work. My Acadia is even worse. That one goes maybe 50 feet on a good day.

The other big problem is that the factory start will only run 15 min.
