Sorry to ask this question agian but I can not find the answer on the forum.

I just purchased 4 6.5 speakers to put in my 2003 crew cab non bose truck. How do the speakers attach to the doors. I do not see holes for the screws. Are there clips or do you have to drill the doors. I would prefer not drilling the doors.

Thank like always:)

You are going to have to drill the mounting holes....Still the best way and the holes are small...Sorry..

On my truck I used the old clips off factory 6.5's you kind of have to pry them off the old speakers and the old speaker will be ruined but it is really easy if you dont plan on running the old factory speakers..or you can drill new holes that works too
good luck

You can get some aftermarket clip brackets for the fronts from crutchfield.com. The rears are a little different. They're plastic and kind of cheesy, but they work.

Go to "What fits my vehicle" in Crutchfield's site and look around in there. The also have adapter plugs so you don't have to do any wire splicing.

You will likely have to drill at least few holes no matter what you do. They will be completely hidden, though.

Here's what I did:

Buy some 3/4" MDF (Home Depot) and make some mounting rings that extend a good 1" plus from the edge of the speakers (for the mid-bass, the tweeters should fit fine in the stock location in front and can be mounted pretty much anywhere).

You can cut the MDF with a jig saw and shape the rings easily with a file to the dimensions of the door frame. Then bolt the MDF to the door frame and mount the speakers to the MDF. Some additional shaping may be necessary to allow for door panel clearance.

The benefits of using MDF include being able to aim the speakers a bit as well as having a firm, vibration free, mounting surface -- particularly important if you give the speakers some wattage. The door frames are flimsy enough, plastic speaker mounts are even worse.

Should only take a few hours and you will enjoy the results for a long time.
