It will cycle eventually and go off.

SES and power steering fluid have zero in common. The light came on for a reason, you need to pull the code and have it diagnosed.

Sounds like you need to reach out to Bronco to see if he can put the Quad on your truck to read the SES code to see what is going on.

or you could go to harbor freight and buy one of those cobra
code readers for $39.95 and read and delete it your self, like
i did. just a thought.

Deleting it doesn't fix the reason it came on though... Just a thought.

thanks. I will look into this. I was flooring the pedal on a very hot day to check the rev limiter 3 times. Right after that the steering power pump 'shut down'. I could not turn the truck tires at all unless it was still moving. once it cooled down and I changed the fluid several times it started working fine. The SES lite came on about the same time. maybe it was not the pump that set the SEs lite on but some reaction to the steering failure is almost certain.

You'll just have to check to see what the code is.

well really MP there is a sensor in the bottem of the power steering pump so yeah it could set the SES light but like HG said if it was the problem it should go out after a few cycles of the key. If it does not reset then it was not the problem. All you would want to delete the code for is to get the historical code deleted off the history of the computer.:exactly:

Does that codereader look/erase the 700 series codes, from the Allison like the Quad does?

Deadeye not like you need the Allison capabillatys but if you wanna meet up just let me know. I keep the entire printout of DTC codes and explantation in the glove box.

You might want to go out and look at your P/S pump again. You will NOT find any sort of a sensor on the pump. NONE. Got that? You might be thinking about a vehicle with EVO (Electronic Variable Orifice). The "sensor" you are referring to would be the EVO solenoid. This will not be found on a Dmax, and will also not set an SES light under any circumstance. There can be codes set in an EVO equipped vehicle (once again, not a Dmax) but they will not illuminate the SES light. Clearing codes out of a vehicle that has a potential problem does nothing but irritate the tech that will get to work on it. They are there so we can help you. BTW, I know my chit:D well really MP there is a sensor in the bottem of the power steering pump so yeah it could set the SES light but like HG said if it was the problem it should go out after a few cycles of the key. I will try the Harbor Frt tool if I can before this weekend. If not I will call you and see where we can meet. I got a pretty busy life right now and this is a pain

John, you could swing by an Autozone and they can read the code for free. I had them pull a code a couple of months ago with no problems. Just another thought.

Bob

p.s. Sorry I couldn't make the dyno get together last weekend.
