Is there anybody out there lowering the 4500 - 5500 trucks? I've looked and haven't found anybody yet. I'm wanting to drop my 4500 crew cab about 8 inches in the front and about 10" in the rear.

Thanks

Ok I am going to step on a limb here, WHY???? Just curious.. Usually people use these to haul and such, so I just had to ask.

I will be towing about 15,000 lbs.,(and a 12 1/2 ft Fleetwood slide-in 2400 lbs. wet) but the camper fit has been a problem, if the truck sat much lower it would work easier. I need to have this thing on the ground at the drag strip and the RV sites.

ekstensive metal works would be who I would call on a set up like that!! I havent looked the suspension under one yet to see what components it would take to drop one.

I would be afraid of the type and geomoty of the steel and its strenth.. this ant your dads 1500 pick up. A typical hanger drop may work but if a weld lets go:eek:

What does my father have to do with it! I see that you own a 4x4 5500, your truck has been raised 6+ inches. I just want to go the other way around.
I was thinking more in the range of a leaf removal, with a air bags on all four corners.
Thanks, Kent

check like I stated ekstensive metal works in houston TX for the bag or take it to Devious customs in Cali or to killer ridez in TX these are the one with something big I would deal with on it. the link for killer ridez is www.killerridez.com they actually did a body drop on a new rig like the one you have.

I would call Rod Pickett a call at www.pickettcustomtruck.com (http://www.pickettcustomtruck.com/) and get some advice from him. I really knows how to lower big trucks. Check out the pictures of the trucks he has done and check out his 1977 Peterbilt 359 hot rod.

I have air suspension on the rear of my 4500. When I dump the pressure, the rear lowers about 5". You might be able to go more with adjustments. Don't know about the front. Good Luck, John

You live in Fenton, Right!?!...go to the guy in Union that is at the HWY 100 Washington Exit off 44...he is located 2 blocks east on old 100 up from the Mr. Fuel. He does some crazy things with trucks:ro)

Thanks everyone for the posts, I have called the guys in Washington, MO. when I first got the truck. They didn't want to mess with building a bed to fit my camper, this thing has been a huge battle. I need a light med. duty truck like this, I never thought fitting a slide-in would be that much of a problem. I would build something myself, but my race car takes up all the free time.

There is a 4500 crew cab pickup running around here in Fountain Valley. I saw it the other day. It looks much like the one pictured in this thread, but has vanity plate (California) "TAZDEVL".

I cannot tell if it is a 5th wheel hauler, or a big pickup, or just what it is. Sure looks nice, though.
