Hi guys,

I've got to change my engine mounts and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for the process? Any difficulties I may encounter?

Any recommendations for brand of the part? Anchor? ACDelco (if they even make them)

Thanks ahead of time,

-John

Check out Kennedy's web page. I think he has a few pointers regarding engine mounts posted there.

I just put my 6.5L engine in Saturday. One of the more difficult tasks that I came accross was dealing with the stupid engine mounts. I had to take them off of the frame and bolt them up on the engine. The nuts on the frame mounted halfs were not welded so I had to get into positions never before obtained. It would have been so much easier if GM had of welded the nuts! Good luck with your engine mount project. A good helper will be necessary and have lots of patience.

Hey Stretch,

thanks for the info, what brand mount did you install?

I may regret it but I didn't put new ones on. They seemed fine, if I had to do it over again, I would have defiently went ahead and spent more money and put new ones in. My truck is 4 wheel drive which made it especially difficult on drivers side. I had to draw the endless dollars on this project at some point!

heres what I have found out so far:

it seems that aftermarkert only sells one part number motormount for all "clamshell" type chevy mounts.

To use energy suspension mounts you have to remove your mount and drill out the rivets and bolt it aback together. I didnt want the truck down in the event that something went wrong. (Its still driveable w/ the broken mount now.) I will try this next time.

GM has different part numbers for gas, diesels and even 4x4 diesels. So I ordered it from GM. Dont know what the differences are but if GM still has different numbers then it must be for some reason.

Next is to actually do the swap....yikes.
