Hello,
I have a Di Pricol pyro an the trippin mount. The pyro lead is only 8'. DO any supporting vendors or anyone else sell a 12' lead for this pyro?
Thanks for the help.

I mounted my gauges overhead as well and had the same problem, I ended up running the cable thru the passenger side up to the gauge and it worked fine. I ran the wire thru the rubber boot for the door wiring and then up the piller.

By making joints on pyro leads you create other temperature sensing points which are additive to the original senser, not a good idea, you must terminate at the instrument only.
good luck

When I bought my DiPricol gauge set a couple years ago, I had the same problem. I asked the same question about getting a longer lead and was told to just splice it (using solder) with some regular 12guage twisted copper wire for the couple of extra feet I needed, so I did. The gauge seems to work just fine unless I have been getting bogus readings all this time (I wouldn't really know if I was). So would it read too high or too low assuming splicing the wire makes a difference in the reading?

the dissimilar metals at the solder joint guarantee a new sensing point in the pyro circuit, when you terminate at the instrument, the copper screw terminations have been allowed for in the circuit design (that is subtracted from the total input signal).
good luck

Will the 8' lead work going through the passenger side a piller?
Thanks again for the help.

You can get a 12' DiProcal extension wire from here: http://www.usdieselparts.com/moreinfo.cfm?Product_ID=164251
I believe you can also get one from http://www.dieselperformanceparts.com/. You will probably have to email them or call since the 12' extension wire is not listed on their website. FWIW.....Diesel Performance Parts is a supporting sponsor of the Diesel Place.

This is the great thing about DiPricol. They make 12' and 14' and several other longer leads all the way up to 40'! I used a 14' for my overhead install, and I actually have some left over. I went through the firewall and then through the driver-side A pillar for a clean install.
