Well I finally spent the time to get a Suncoast IV, 1056 torque converter, deep allison pan, deep filter and filter lock, and transfer case brace put in. Had this in mind 2 years before even buying the truck but finally did it. I had it done Friday by Eric at http://www.merchant-automotive.com/ and I must say a good job he did. Pretty much the transmission portion job done in 6 hours. Plus a few more hours for other work. While the Allison was out had a Diamond down pipe put in. This made the install so much easier. Also change transfer case, front and rear diff fluids to Synthentic. Mobil with additive in the diffs and Amsoil in the transfer and transmission. Almost 6 gallons for transfer and Allison. Put on tierod sleaves and Pitmon arm fix. Really please with all the work Eric did and how much attention he applied to the job. As for the result it is what I expected based on the post read here. Allison runs abut 30 degrees hotter at the same speed as before. Does shift more harder but all depends on how you run through the gears. With enough practice it could shift fairly smooth. Now I am ready for new turbo and bigger HP tune with work done by Nick from http://www.duramaxtuner.com in the future. More like next year but who knows. Then I need to do PVC reroute, run wires for DSP5 and a few other options. Just have to figure out where to mount the switches.
