A while back ( good while ) I ask for suggestions on wiring an ARE bed cap interior light so it would be hot all the time. Someone suggested ( I forgot who he was ) wiring it to the fith wheel wiring that is at the front of the bed. Today I finally got around to doing it. Got it all hooked up and it would not work. I figured the red wire was already hot but it isn't. Now I can't figure out if there is a fuse for it. I looked in the owners manual but did see a fuse that was labeled for the fifth wheel.
If anyone has suggestions I will really appreciate it.
Thanks
Billy

this red wire is usually the hot power wire at 30 amps you will need to install a fuse in the fusebox under the hood it will be fed off of one of the power studs and should have a dummy plug in place of a fuse, hope this helps.

I get nervous when I think about the wiring on these trucks.
In the fuse box under the hood there is a red dummy ( like me) in the upper left corner. It is labeled stud 1. In the upper right corner the manual says stud 2 but I have a 30 amp fuse there (I wonder what it's for). Is the stud one what you are talking about.
Thanks again

The "red dummy" at stud 1 needs to be replace with a fuse. Normaly a 40 amp; 30 amp will work.

Do you have any idea what the 30 amp fuse in the right corner is for? It's not labeled but the owners manual calls it stud 2.

Stud #2 provides 12 vdc to the 'Emergency Vehicle Roof Lamp Relay' and to 'Relay Block - IP'.
