1984, 6.2l military, m1010 I had to replace a few radiator hoses and the thermostat. I noticed a buch of sludge in the radiator. I flushed it out twice, but there still is a noticable amount. Not having a diesel before , wihat do you guys recommend for a flush ?

I use Mac's H.D. Radiator flush from NAPA. I run it with water and then drain the whole system including pulling the block plugs. (An SOB with motor mount brackets in the way) I only do this on one that is really gunked up. Usually the result of someone running water or not enough coolant with the water. I always run a little higher percentage of coolant to water in mine. (60-40, coolant to water) This gives the higher boiling point in summer as well as more than adequate freeze protection in winter, here in the N.W.

Is there a way I could be getting oil in the radiator? I still cant seem to get all the gunk out of the thing. I have not noticed any water in the oil pan or a loss of oil. I am just wondering if Uncle Sugars finest never bothered to flush the thing.

Cr, find a Conklin dealer and buy some WEX. It will get the oil out fo your radiator and engine. I believe conklin.com will get you a dealer list/locator. Mike

For oil in the radiator add some automatic dishwashing detergent to the water in your cooling system(remove antifreeze first) run the engine until good and hot and then flush several times with water.:grd:
