I have a few questions for everyone.

1. What brake controller should I go with
2. Front & rear mud/rock flaps
3. Dually wheel valve stem extenders
4. Will 04/05 stock 2500 style tail lights fit on a 3500

Our Doubletree Mobile Suite 36-TK3 (http://www.doubletreervsuites.com/) went into production last week, we should take delivery the 1st of June.

Appreciate everyones input . . .

Nice looking dually!

1. Lot of people really like the BrakeSmart controller but it is kinda pricey. The Prodigy controll is good and if you look around you can get it for like $100.

2. I have OEM mud guard all around and I love them.

Nice truck! You've spent the money on the truck and 5er, may as well get the best controller(Brakesmart) for a few hundred $ more. If you want to skimp on it, consider the Jordan ($100) from RVWholesalers. (rvwholesalers.com)

The dealer we are purchasing our 5th wheel from is responsible to put in the brake controller. I want to tell him the best 1 to purchase.

Tell your dealer to put in a Prodigy and nothing else. I do a lot of towing now and if you set the Prodigy you perty much forget about it. I find my self having to look in the rear view to see if the trailer is still there. the Dmax will do an awsome job of the 36 ft fith.

You can get aftermarket tailights now if you want, like from In pro car wear and others

Try www.jpcustoms.com for them

And Putco makes some nice stainless rear mud flaps or you could get the factory dually flaps from GM that are molded to fit better and they come black with a white bow tie on it. And get some molded fronts too.

Valve extenders just look for a nice stainless set. Try www.awdirect.com
Others have them too.

And get the brakesmart if money is no option.

If you do a "search" on your questions you will find they have been discussed many times and you will have plenty of reading to do to decide for yourself.

And if your tired of the vette you can donate it to my: needmorefun charity :)

That truck would look awesome with some rubber mudflaps with the chrome on the bottom.

I have the same rig. 05 3500 dually, and 05 MS 36 TK3. Don't even think about any brake controller except the Brakesmart. I changed from a prodigy and while it is a good controller, it's not in the same league as the brakesmart.
Worth the difference in price and then some.

Hey Six Shooter; Like your new truck, great color! About your Vette, are you interested in any bolt on hi-performance brake set-ups. If so let me know I am involved with company called Red Devil Brakes and we produce rotors, calipers, pads for Vettes and other vehicles. Our rotors and pads with stock calipers alone from 60 mph will easily produce stops at 88 feet if not better. GM has been playing with our stuff at Milford for quite some time and have shipped Vettes to our plant for installation a few times. Nice truck thou I just picked my new 5500 up on Wed and waiting for the upfitter to finish the utility body.

Prodigy is "Plug-N-Play", Brakesmart is not (requires, interalia, tapping the truck's brake system).

I have the same truck and a 2004 36TK3, I also have the Prodigy. All three are the best I could imagine. And I have had a lot of trucks!

I agree go with the Prodigy. I pull the unit that the RV Dealer installed for the Prodigy and it took a few moments to set-up and have not had to touch it in two years. I have pulled from my 2001 1500HD and will put it my 05 3500 in July we I pick it up.

Your post brings up some interesting tidbits to share with others. Our trucks come with high pressure "rubber" valve stems. If you are towing heavy with your truck these should be changed out for metal stems. As for valve extensions for the duallys', I tried the kind that you screw onto the existing valve stem only to have them vibrate loose. Don't even attempt them on rubber valve stems! I just ordered a set of valve stem extenders like they put on motorhomes. They are braided with clips that mount to the axle cover. They may not be the prettiest setup but they certainly aren't going anywhere. ;)

As for mudflaps, the solid ABS types or solid SS will get crunched the first time you back over a curb. Found that out the hard way. :o: I have the rubber with the stainless steel weights. I've also seen a rubber set with the Chevy emblem on them that looked nice as well. ;)

I have the Prodigy brake controller, mostly because the RV dealership I bought my 5ver from installed it. So far it appears to work fine. JJ :)
