I don't think they "crack"-- but the primer o-rings get worn and the check valves do not seal-- which results in the fuel training back to the tank-- and air enters the system. Also a loose filter/o-ring or leaking primer/WIF sensor will allow air into the system. If there is air in the filter housing, the CP3 will suck air and not fuel, so the truck will take a lot longer to start or in some cases, not start at all.

It is important to make sure that there are no leaks in the fuel system.

if you had a kennedy pump and kept positive pressure there it should not have that problem

when you bleed the filter does the primer ever get hard? if it doesn't then you have a leak somewhere. did you try pressurizing the fuel tank to see if you could find the leak?

also the wiring harness is know to cause some problems in these trucks. i would check those as well.

check DIY section, write-up on repairing filter housing. valves, orings, gaskets need attention.

I broke the small bleeder screw and the truck would not start. I did not know it was broken until I started to take it off. Replaced that and all was good.

Don't bother pressurizing the tank, just replacing the housing with one from dmaxwrenchkit and be done with it. the diapharm gets little cracks in it and suck air, it won't leak anywhere. thats the fix.

Mine is leaking around the electrical connection on the top/when I prime it//Plastic tube for the connection must be loose/// I have to prime to start and now it has gone from only on the first start of the day to every time I start it//
