We have an 05 duramax and I changed the fuel filter because the engine was in limp mode and this is the third filter in 6000 miles. Why I do not know but I can use some help. chevman

What exactly do you mean by 'limp' mode? Many often confuse this with the p1093 code (rpms to 2k only). Others call the tranny slippage a 'limp' (p0700 followed by any other p07** code for the tranny).

Could you also inform us of any power adders you have, if applicable?

The truck is stock and 5900 miles. The problem started on I-10 and we were towed to Blythe ca. The code said fuel regulator rail and it was replaced but not fixed. I asked at 2pm is the fuel filter was checked and the tech has us on the road soon after replacing the filter. I added another fuel tank and it has an inline filter. That time the truck bucked and was missing but this time we were driving up a steep hill and it just went from running great to this 2000 k rpm. We weretowing a 35 ft fifth wheel both times. I changed the filter and it ran great. chevman

I did cut open the filter and it was very clean so I talked to the shop forman at the chev garage. I then took the truck to him and he found 3 codes on his programer so he fixed all 3 problems. Didn't even lift the hood . Stopping the truck and turning off the engine and open the door and shut the door and this reboots the computer. If not do it again he told me. The fuel filter was not the problem. chevman

I could be wrong, but don't you have to disconnect the battery and leave the door open to reset the computer? Otherwise, it would have to relearn everytime you got back in.

I don't know but he didn't say it that way. This is a learning experience for me. awesome truck towing our 35 ft alpenlite. I should have started my own topic but I read about the filter story and got excited.
