I am a 6.2 guy, so not used to all the computer controlled stuff.
Budy of mine has a newer duramax that was starting hard, but now refuses to start. I have found info on the injectors going bad, but when we cracked a line on one of the injectors we are not seeing any fuel?? Pump maybe?? Any ideas would be appriciated.

Have you tried priming the fuel system? Has the individual changed fuel filters lately? Is there diesel in the crankcase? We need more info please!

I am having similar problems. Truck was getting hard to start and felt like it was surging (almost like clutch problem). Thought maybe it was time to change fuel filter. Changed filter but it is getting harder to start and surging more often. No big clouds of black smoke or signs that people have seen with bad injectors. Any ideas?

You DO NOT want to be loosening any injection lines on the HPCR system!! There is NO recommended diagnostic or suggestions for breaching the system under pressure at 20,000 psig plus!!! I suspect you were lucky and didn't loosen the nut enough for the line to useat, which is why you didn't get fuel and also why you didn't get seriously injured by high pressure fuel spray that would probably have cut and destroyed the seal on the connection! Hard starting is a symptom of injector problems, but usually goes along with white smoke at idle and fuel in the oil. Hard starting alone is a symptom of air inleakage into the fuel system on the vacuum side, usually isolated to the fuel filter or fuel line connections between the pump and the tank. Fuel filter is most likely if you don't have any other symptoms of injector failure.

Idle_Chatter, I think you may have hit on something, I have noticed diesel collecting on the black braided (insulation) material around the fuel lines on the front of the tank. You think that may be the cause of air leaking? Or is it normal to have the lines leak small amounts there? I kind of ruled out the fuel filter after it was changed as the source of air entering the system. Thanks.

Took the truck in this morning for the surging and trouble starting. Got a call at 10 this morning and was told that all 8 injectors were being replaced. They called this afternoon and said the truck was ready, but I dont have a way to pick it up until tomorrow morning. Thought that was pretty fast, all 8 injectors in 6 hours.
