Hi All, I've never own a diesel before. So im just trying to find out if Im getting a good deal on my first. A buddy of mine is selling his 1994 GMC Sierra 3500 6.5 diesel Dually. Body is ok,tires are good. He replaced lots of little things like hoses, alternator belts etc.. nothing done on the motor just oil changes and maitenance. Its got 310000 miles on the motor. his only complain on it was the computer that located on the top side of the motor, witch he said can be relocated by the bumper ( he showed me the replacement part on E Bay) Starts good runs good till it gets hot because of that comp ( not really sure what its called) well anyways he said he'll sell it to me for $1200 and he will replaced that comp. if I buy the parts and help him install... Actually he wants me to learn how to work on it. Thanks in advance Luis V.

do a search here, http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/search.php
lots of info about what you want to know already.
the comp is called a PMD. relocate on the bumper w/ a heat simk and it will last a long time.
310000 miles is a lot if nothing has been done to the engine. have heard of them lasting 500,000 but not many.
IP will need looking at soon but the biggest headache w/ them is the PMD.
if you start posting here w/ q's after you get it there is a lot of good people that will give good advice.
i would offer $1000.00, just because of the miles. is it a reg/ext/crew cab? 2 or 4WD?

Thanks for the reply. It was a Crew cab and not 4x4. I ask my buddy for his honest opp. He kinda didnt want to sell it to me because of how much I know about Diesel motor ( which is none) and the high mileage. SO I didnt get it. Plus I want to replace my 4x4 with a 4x4. Im even thinking about converting it from gas to diesel.
Thanks Again Luis V
