From my experience and talking to other people who have owned either, you pay for the Banks name. I believe that the Edge tuning is a little bit better than Banks, but the reliability of the Edge Juice is terrible. My local diesel performance shop won't even sell them anymore because he had to return so many of them. My brother in law has gone through two of them on his truck alone.

However, Edge's customer service is great, so they do take care of you when you have a problem. When I had a Six Gun, I never had any problems so I never had to call in. So I couldn't tell you what their customer service is like.

Do a search on Edge Juice and stalling, dying, shut down, ... and read for yourself all the problems people have had. Banks is often criticized for their price/value, but mostly their over exaggerated multi page glossy ads that stretch the truth, deceive, or flat out misrepresent their product. That said, Banks research and development are probably second to none. Their facility and engineers are top notch. You do pay for the advertising, research and development when you buy their product. Their product is for the person that tows, and would like more power. Both the Banks and the Juice have safety features that back down the power if the egts get too high. On the juice, you can set the backdown temp for the egt, but I don't believe that Banks does. (someone correct me if I'm wrong) They are both plug in boxes that are virtually indetectable as you don't leave a footprint like a tuner will when you reflash. They work by intercepting and altering the signals to keep the ecm happy. Banks claims that they provide extra protection for the trans in addition to what the allison's TCM provides. There is an extra wire that they have you connect for this monitoring, but I've never seen any data, or proof, or any endorsements from any of the tranny pro's that it actually works as claimed. If your looking for a plug in box, I'd have to suggest Banks because their reliability, and safety features. The Juice has left too many people frustrated, and quite frankly having your engine just shut down is quite dangerous.

There are tuners that flash the ECM that will give you more bang for the buck, and many claim their tow tunes are better. Tuners, or EFI offer anything from economy tunes/tow tunes to flat out race tunes that won't even run properly without mods such as a beefed tranny, fuel pumps... Their potential almost seems unlimited. If you want real power, buy a tuner such as PPE, if you are a serious racer, or just like the flexability/tunability EFI is hard to beat. Banks and the juice will not compete with a well written tune, especially the hot tunes, or race tunes. You'll need gauges with almost all of the tunes. There are a few companies that make a "safe" tune that they claim can be run without gauges.

You are wrong HDGMC. Sort of. The Banks Economind will not let you adjust when it defuels for EGT's, but the Six Gun will.

I had a banks 6-gun on my 03 and it worked perfectly. It had enough power to limp the tranny and was very reliable. The only thing I did'nt like was it had no low end power. You only felt the added power when the rpms got up, which is good for the tranny. Even though the banks was good it did'nt compare to my Predator or PPE as far as driveability goes. It never seemed to shift as good. I am comparing a 03 LB7, the new ones may be even better as far as driveability goes. When it comes down to it you wont go wrong with Banks, they make a quality product that makes good power for a middle weight. Just a little pricey

I switched from the PPE economy to my banks 6 gun with PDA. I love the 6 Gun. SL level is great. Look around on ebay and find a used banks, you can find them considerably cheaper. Mine was $500. My cousin with the same truck and with a PPE on the 225 setting and my truck on SL are pretty equal. We have never raced.

I don't know about the banks much but i've had a edge on my truck for 60k miles, never had a single issue with it. Lots of smoke which can be fun too.
