1998 6.5 Suburban 4x4 with 152,000 miles.
Had a hesitation while driving at highway speed couple weeks ago. Got home and changed fuel filter. All seemed good till Saturday I backed up to hook onto to trailer and engine just shut off like I had turned the key off.

Truck came from FL and PMD was mounted on top for cooler running. Engine cover is removed as well. It was not that hot when it shut off. Injection pump and lift pump was supposedly replaced before I bought it 1.5 years ago.

Dealer wants to perform an injecton clean service for a little under $200. What about any deposits that are cleaned away? Where does this debris end up??? Says a test will be done first to determine if high or low injector pressure is showing. Any other thoughts? I am new here. Thanks so much.

First of all, welcome here.

Search the 6.5 section for all your ever going to need to know about your 6.5.
From what you are saying it's probably the PMD, but take the time to do the checklist so we all know what's up with your ride.

Another thing, make yourself a signature so we all know what kind of truck you have.

Sounds like alot huh? LOL. Good luck!:)

It does sound like the PMD and that is a terrible spot to mount it from what I understand. They need to be totally out of the engine compartment

Did you check for fuel at the injector or at the t-valve or bleed screw on the top of the filter?

Don't forget the check list here - - > http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=42248

Skip the dealer's offer for a fuel system flush...
