I am looking at a 06 2500HD diesel with 134,000, I did a vin check and it came up with some small things like EGR.

Are these miles a red flag for a 2006

NOt a red flag as far as I'm concerned, though it's probably seen a lot of high use in that time.

Look at the "hours" on the truck
take the mileage, divide by hours, and it gives you "average speed" over the life of the truck (factors in moving time, time standing still, etc.) that will give you a vague idea of how the truck has been used. the higher the "avg speed" number, the more highway use it has seejn as opposed to stop and go city raffic.

Is there anything I should look for or get replaced with that high of miles?

Where do I find the hours?

In the DIC. The top button on the bottom left of the steering wheel scrolls through that display.

The hours could be screwed up in which case that whole scenario will be out the window. Mine reset for no reason at all when the batt went dead. Stupid but it happens in these trucks.

134k isn't a overly high amount of miles just means it was a daily driver which could be a good thing. I have an 05 that was a daily driver and in the last year has been parked alot during the week. 117k on the clock right now.

Hey I traded my 06 in Aug of 07 with 285k, so 134k is barely broke in!

I have one with about 130k. I think that if you run them every day they will run better longer, just like a boat. It just depends what kind of miles they are.

The hr meter also takes into account the time that it was idled so that will throw that average speed thing out of skew too.

The hour meter counts the number of hours the engine has run,why would it stop counting when at an idle?Makes no sense at all.

I have 97,000 miles on my 06 still has original brakes on it just turned down 30,000 for it because!!.Truck runs like the day I got it and there are no new diesels available in MI only 4 trucks found in MI/OH had my dealer run a search dealers in these parts did not order trucks because of the high cost of diesel. There are no discounts offered through Gov't Mtrs either it would cost me close to 60 grand with tax for a 2009 no friggin way that is happening.

On the other hand my '06 has just a tad over 30,000 miles on it, and has been babied since it left the showroom. At this rate it will last at least 27 years, and I going to be around that long. :D

he was stating that idle and actually driving is 2 diff things on the motor... so it wouldnt give you a completely accurate calculation if yuo are wanting to find out how long the trucks actually been on the road. so the miles and the hours would be screwed up if the truck sitting at idle for a lot of time.

Technical data says that the DMax engine was designed and tested to go a minimum of 250,000 miles with normal maint. and under normal conditions. 134K would be about half its life expectency if you feel comfortable with how they represent the way the truck was driven and maintained. In any case the asking price should reflect the high milage unless they have some pretty convincing proof of extraordinary maint. and the truck shows no signs of abuse.
