Thats my other "wrong brand" diesel in the background, slightly modded.....
Now for the important part. I stated in my other post that I could not balance the outers, this worried me.... we averaged about 2 ounces per wheel on the others. My friend who has been selling tires for 14 years swore we did not need to balance the rears. I didn't believe him. Guess what, it rides perfect;). Smooth as can be with a very slight yet not at all annoying hum(I went with drive tires all the way around). Not like my STTs on my other truck. I ran it up to 90mph with out a hint of vibration. Wheels are hub centric by the way, by Eagle Alloy with Rickson steel inners. Needless to say I am very pleased with my decision to do this. I did loose a little power. Now I have to spend a little money to bring it back.... I'll go to the other forum to figure that one out. I would recommend this to anyone on the fence. You will not be disappointed:D I did not touch the torsion bars and it doesn't rub at all, even turning into a off camber parking lot. Please feel free to ask anything you want about my setup, I will gladly answer. Going to drive my truck!

ChuckZilla 09-18-2009, 08:17 PM Looks good! I like it!
69project 09-18-2009, 08:55 PM Nice setup. You have opened your self up for a bunch of questions. I might as well start it off.
What brand and size are the tires and are you running any rear spacers?
Are they F or G rated? Is the ride "any worse than stock tires or better"
What is the PSI you are running?
Whats the difference between a drive tire and a steering one?
Did you get these from Ricksons or a local dealer?
What weight are the rims rated for 2780lbs or so?
Thanks, Lee
dieseldave01 09-18-2009, 08:57 PM looks great
AlligatorPerformance 09-18-2009, 09:03 PM Looks good, those tires should last you a good long time. Hows the ride, is it a bit stiffer than stock?
SLCox 09-18-2009, 10:16 PM Thanks for the compliments!
The tires are G rated Cooper RM 190, 225/70-19.5. Spacers are not needed, the wheels are rated at 2600 lbs for aluminums, and ricsksons are rated at 3500 lbs. I am running 62 lbs in the front, 55 in the rears. Drive tires are simply more aggressive commercial tires, steer tires tend to be straight tread tires like you see on 18 wheelers. As far as the ride, the only place I noticed a difference was on few large hits, like square edge hits on pavement transitions. The wheels came from a place out of Youngstown Ohio, drop shipped directly, from Rickson and Eagle Alloy. I would not say the ride is any harsher than stock. It actually feels more confidence inspiring, as in not as much up and down movement in the truck??? Hard to explain, I would say because the sidewall is not as soft as smaller tires. The truck feels very solid. NO negatives other than a lighter wallet. IMHOP the truck looks like it should now. Like it means business;)

username taken 09-18-2009, 10:22 PM Looks killer!
What did it set you back?
Road Boss 09-19-2009, 10:42 PM This makes me want to get a set!
step child 09-20-2009, 03:51 AM Could we get a pic of the tread, would like to see what the treads looks like.
Thanks J.
69project 09-20-2009, 02:49 PM Thanks for the information. Enjoy your set up, looks good.
I have the same setup. Changed the rears to 4.10 and it is like stock gearing.
admranger 09-22-2009, 12:12 AM Sweet. Consider me jealous...
SLCox 09-22-2009, 09:28 AM Been gone for a couple days, Thanks for the compliments! I don't have my camera on me but the tire is a Cooper RM 190. http://coopertire.com/Flash/index.aspx Total cost was about 2500. I got them mounted and balanced for free at my buddys tire shop. He got me the tires and the wheels came from a wheel shop in Youngstown Ohio, 1500 for 4 Eagle Alloy Aluminums and 2 Rickson steels with caps, lugs, and valve stems and extensions. Tires were 970 or so for six. I am going to put my 5th wheel behind it this week and see what 16k feels like. Now I need to figure out how to calibrate my speedo, banks six gun won't do it. Again, don't be worried about a rough ride or vibratioins, if you do this setup you WILL NOT be dissappointed! My wife even mentioned the truck felt smoother! She didn't ask the total amount I spent. She went on a huge shopping spree this weekend.... retaliation I think, worth it though;)
SLCox 09-22-2009, 09:30 AM 1822, I'm considering the 4.10s. Going to research a little.
musclecarboy 09-28-2009, 09:40 AM That looks STUNNING man!! I think i'm going to do this next spring when my Open Country A/T's are finished (10-15k miles for tread still)
rfcsb 09-29-2009, 05:50 PM Had mine for over three years now, best thing I've done for heavy towing.

Nice looking truck. The tires do look agressive though have you gone tho the beach or sandy soil? Are they good on sand, mud, etc. They look a little narrow.
Maxed04HD 09-30-2009, 08:52 AM Very cool looking truck! Where did you get your mudflaps from? I can't seem to find any like that

Those appear to be Husky mudflaps. Ok if you don't back into stuff with them (they'll tear the fender up). I have them on my truck but I have pretty good depth perception! :D
dmax3500 10-02-2009, 11:21 PM what are the lugs,i had same wheels and the rears kept getting loose,,[it needed longer rear studs]

a tech 2 can recalibrate speedos
SLCox 10-04-2009, 07:17 PM Thanks again for the compliments. As far as off road, I haven't had them anywhere but pavement and gravel, and if you put a tape on them they are wider than my stock tires by quite a bit. Yes the mud flaps are husky, and once you put them on you cant take them off, they ruin the paint underneath. What is a tech 2? Oh yeah, I have stock studs and the lug nuts have stayed tight. I get lots of comments now on how good the truck looks, especially from other duramax dually owners;)
dmax3500 10-04-2009, 09:52 PM tech 2 is a scanner that most dealers have
2003duallydude 10-04-2009, 11:32 PM very very nice looking--
i was told by a trucker that if you add BB"s to your tires then you won't have to balance them -i am not sure how many -- just what he said when i asked about the 5 large containers of bb's in his shop-- you might want to do more research on it.
all4sho 10-09-2009, 03:26 PM nice looking truck
HeavyHD 10-14-2009, 10:45 PM Damn buddy thats sexy! Wish I had a dually like that for a tow rig
House 11-11-2009, 08:17 PM hows the mpg? what kind of tires are them?
Horsehaulin 11-11-2009, 08:26 PM Nice looking truck for sure!
task125 11-15-2009, 12:40 PM do you have a link for the site that you got the wheels from? I am getting ready to get myself a Xmass gift:D
