I have 85000 on my truck and the stock pads still in. Even with 35's. I am dead sick of hearing the calipers but the front end place i go to says the pads are fine. He will replace if i want him to but I hate to spend money just because. Any other way to shut em up.
Thanks Guys

Not a very common complaint, at least on here. I have a hard time understanding where your "caliper rattle" is coming from. I know that you'll say that if you lightly touch the brakes the noise goes away, BUT, I carve and fit all of mine 'til the pads literally fall out when the caliper is removed, and mine don't "rattle" and their loose. I'd bet it's a pad rattle before I'd blame a caliper.
So, here's my analysis.
A) At one or more corners, the inner vs outer pad thickness varies (my money is on thin inners at one or more corners).
2) At a prior service and replacement of the slide bolts, the inner sleeve was left out of the pin bore(s).
III) The rattle clips that allow the pads to slide were omitted at assembly time (pad replacement, not the factory's).
d) Everything is simply bound up.
So, peruse this http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showpost.php?p=2961667&postcount=4

what cured my caliper rattle was the hardware. i got a new caiper hardware which included the bushings that slide into the caliper then the bolts go in. the old bushings were shot allowing the caliper enough play to slop around and make the annoying a** rattle. try just replacing those bushings, i think it was like $20-$25 at autozone.

Mine has a rattle in the driverside front also when hitting bumps but at 81k i feel some noise is warranted since everything is original. The pads are around 30%, not bad for all the towing its done so far and 4 winters of plowing. This fall i will be replacing all the brakes so it is ready for winter plowing.
