So what temp should you see with normal highway driving on your guage. I was right around 800 with no load. What can I expect to see when I put 10000lbs behind it? As my signiture says I an straight piped.

On the flats with no headwind, I see temps @ 950 - 1050 running about 70.

Unloaded or loaded? On flats around me I've seen 550-700 a 68-70mph, loaded with ~13k lbs I see 800-1000 at the same speeds.

Perfect so heat is definetly not going to be an issue when pulling. I checked again today and it was closer to 700 at 70 mph.

You probably don't want to know the temps you can hit when beating the the truck at the drag strip or something similar. I've hit 1850 racing and burried my 2000* gauge tractor pulling. Those temps are really high, if you don't do it for more then a couple seconds then your pistons and motor won't have time to soak in all that heat.

Dding I will hit 1100, towing even higher maybe 1800, sled pulling last time I only hit 1750-1800, drag racing the 2000 pyro is buried after a the 1/8th.

What do people typically see pulling a sustained load (such as full size travel trailer or 5ver) with a stock engine tune?

I understand that the practical limit might be 1300 degF or so, but I'm curious as to how close the "factory" set up get's to the danger zone under "normal" pulling conditions?

I see around 7-800 unloaded and 11-1300 pulling a 14k gooseneck. On flat ground the temp stays around 10-1100 pulling the GN @67mph.

It all depends on the "load" placed on the engine. I have pulled a few hills with mine(26K+gvw) That I have to back out of the throttle. I am quite sure I could bury my pyro needle on my 2000* gauge. I limit it to about 1400* by gear and throttle level.

Subscribing b/c I'm curious to see how others are doing.

I can hit 1400+ on lvl 1 pulling my toyhauler. Stock tune seems a little hotter. I run @ 1200* and below, never hotter.

Looks like I am going to see about 1000-1100 on flat ground pulling my camper at 70mph on the performance tune.
Never pulled it very far put will have a better idea after this weekend.

You may want to rethink the pulling with the performance tune. They make "tow" tunes for a reason. The temps I gave are with my tow tune.

x2

And your trans might not like you too much for towing on the performance setting either.

Thanks for the heads up guys.
I will tame it back to the tow tune I don't want to tear anything up.
