new diesel owner :)
95 td started jerking hard at slight acccelerator pressure over 45mph. This morning it pegged out when it started and idled at 55mph going down the road!
Is this a common problem ? didn't see it in my search.
replaced opsu last night- used to die occaisionally when backing out then start after 20 second crank
lift pump is 4 months old- blows fuel out filter cap at idle well
injector pump is 1yr old rebuild
pmd switched with spare didn't help
thanks for your time,

Any code? Sounds like Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor but it usually throw a code or SES light.

ses came on but then went out and hasn't come back in 4 days. I saw a reference to a paper clip hack to read codes today but haven't figured it out yet.
thanks for the reply,

There should be a code there. The paper clip works for OBD-I which is what you have, just have to learn how to count after 12 is flashed 3x. Then the different codes if any will be flashed. You don't need to bring it anywhere.
There is a code list in the FAQ for OBD-I.

To find where to connect the paperclip sit in the truck and look at your left knee then reach directly under the dash and you will see a 12 or 16 pron plug female version. Put the paper clip in the A & B holes and turn the key on and start counting. 12 = computer is alive each code flashes 3 time then do a search and you will have all the answers you need.

Well, 3 mechanics couldn't fix it so i put on a new ip (i'll never do that again) and just before firing it up slipped and fell with a wrench that landed on against the firewall and threw major sparks. i think it was something to do with the glowplugs. Now instead of over revving it won't start at all!! pcm got fried so put on ANOTHER new one. I think the accelerator pedal position sensor and crank sensor also fried. Would they stop the engine from running even if i am pouring gassoline onto the top of the air intake to prime it? it acts like it wants to run but won't get going.
