I bought new balancer for the my 1993 GMC. First - the new one looks NOTHING like the solid old one. I bought a dorman unit from rockauto. New one is not solid like the old one - is this a new design? Second I looked up a balancer for a 1998 6.5td and the partner # was different.

Anyone have an insight here? I just put a ton of $$$ into the block and don't need a bearing failure because of a bad balancer. Thanks!

My dorman part # is 584-128

Should look very similar, if not maybe you got a crank pulley instead, or some odd error.

Only difference between '93 and newer is the snout that goes over the crank is a bit longer on the '93 version account no reluctor.

I would buy one from the dealer or even a fluiddamper. It's money well spent vs import parts.

The last parts i bought form the dealer were made in china and mexico. Everything's foreign made now.

There are 2 part no. one for the Pulley and one for the Balancer. Unfortunately, the pulley is also called Balancer Pulley (the word Balancer).
