Has anyone heard of or used these things? I guess there like bean bags. You put them in the tire when you mount it and drive. It opens up and balances the tire while your driving I guess. I hear they use them on bigger tires that are hard to balance.

I hear they are a mess when it is time to dismount the tires. I would not use them.

We tried using them on our highway coach fleet, and I have absolutely nothing good to say about it. Nothing will replace spin balancing.

There is a big post about balancing beads a few guys say the bags are a bad idea. I just bought some SS "beads" and put the right amount in ziplocks and had the tire guys dump them in after balancing them. I know they work cause I have lost several weight off my wheels and they are still balanced perfectly.

the only thing that I noticed that I did not like about them was there was a small hop at like 15-20 mph as all the beads got togther then it smoothed out.

I have been using the balancing beads for the past 30,000 miles and I am totally sold on them. They can be installed in bags but I simply broke the top bead and poured them in. They work very well. The only time I notice them is when I hit a bump or pothole. They take a mile or so to smooth back out. At hiway speeds there is not even a hint of tire vibration.

Maybe I had a bad set of Toyo's the last time around, but I had made up my mind I was done with Toyo MT's. Couldn't find a tire/size I liked, so I relucantly went back to them. My buddy talked me into the balance bags, and I honestly cannot believe the difference it made. Got about 10k on them, and still ride great and are wearing perfectly. I will run them from now on. I love the way my truck rides now, and I love my Toyo's.

I'm having a problem getting my tires balanced. The dealer put some type of powder? in and then said they would self balance. Did not work. The steering wheel is shaking at 30 mph, and the entire truck is shaking over 60 mph. I've ordered the beads and will be trying them. My question is the amount of beads everyone recommends? The site said 8oz for each tire ( 35 x 10.5 x 16 Swampers), does this sound right? Should it be more?

sounds more like alignment problem. you can contact the company about the weight for each wheel if you are still unsure but 8oz sounds correct for that tire.

Sounds like a bad tire or bent wheel. I bought a set of tires one time from Sam's club. They put so much weight on the tirethat have the rim front and back was covered. Turned out that it was a bad tire to begin with, they replaced the tire (after a fight, hell the tire was only on the truck for two days) and all was well again.
