That would be a engine limp mode your describing, most likely caused by a low fuel rail pressure. Try changing the fuel filter and see if that works for you.
If it does not you may be looking at bigger issues such as the CP3 (fuel pump) or injectors...

Check with the dealer. They should be under warranty. Someone here should have the Service announcement with the warranty I believe its 10 years or 200,000 miles... Double check me on that...

5 years 200K for a certain failure(excess fuel return only), otherwise it is the standard 5 year 100K mile.

I had my injectors done under the 7 year 200,000 mile extended warranty from GM. Then received another year under the dealership that did the work.

It is in the first sticky by Randy - go back to the main page of the LB7 forum - click the first sticky - you can read about the 7 yr / 200,000 mile service policy and the conditions it covers.
My injectors were replaced and the replacement injectors are covered for 12,000 miles or 1 year whichever comes first. At least mine are. They may be standard coverage for all replacement injectors.

Just re-read your post - being your truck is an 01 - you will be outside the special policy. The years are gonna get ya. I hate that for you.
I had a HORRIBLE experience with an extremely sorry pitiful excuse for a dealer when my injectors went out. Fortunately, found another dealer who covered them under the service policy. I was out by 2 months. The first dealer had told me they would replace all 8 injectors under the service policy. They were 4 hours into the work on my truck. Had drained fluids, dismanted the engine down to the injectors. THEN they came to me to tell me that the repairs would not be covered under the service policy.
Well, it got ugly from there on as you can imagine. You don't agree to cover injector replacements under the policy, dismantle a man's truck to where it can't be driven unless put back together and fluid replenished to tell him he will have to pay out of pocket after it has been worked on for 4 hours. I found another dealer. Told them the story. They graciously covered the replacement of all 8 injectors for me. I left the first dealer in very quick fashion. I had dealt with the first dealer for about a week as well as contacting customer service and dealing with them to no avail.
I promised the service manager and general manager I would give them $4,000 worth of advertisement. I'm gonna make sure he gets his monies worth.

X2 7 years 200,000 miles, which ever comes first.
