I was wondering what the two open spots are for in the front bumper of the chevy trucks. I would think it would be for a intercooler for the 6.5 but the truck im looking at is 6.2, it might be turbo though i cant get ahold of the guy.

They are to allow extra air through the bumper to cool the radiator.

I have seen some trucks with out the openings also.

I believe the bumper holes started in '93 with the introduction of the 6.5TD
Pre '93 didn't use them or a turbo.
There was a few years that you could get a factory banks turbo 6.2, don't know if they included the bumper.
Turbo = heat GM realized this and adapted.
