Can someone with a 2005 3500 dually take a pic of there rear spring set up.

I just bought one a few weeks ago and im curious if somewhere in its life there were springs added.

it has the second set of 2 helpers up top, and a huge flat helper on the bottom.

just curious if both are stock

The back of this truck rides like a brick loaded, or unloaded.

the back of the truck leaves the ground on small bumps !!!

Thanks

looks like mine from the factory. i did play with removing leafs to get the rear stay on the ground while crossing small speedbumps in parking lots. eventually settled on bottom fat spring reversed and added air bags. worked well with 16" rims/tires. back to square one with 19.5 + commercial tires. i wonder if anyone else has experience with my new setup?

Factory

I just picked up a set of 2500 springs since one of my 3500 ones was bad and to help with the ride since I dont tow heavy.

I found after searching that quite a few people go to a lighter rate spring pack (1500/2500) or remove/change leafs, and then add airbags for when carrying a load.

There is an extra overload leaf spring in that pic.

Not against my 2005 GMC dually crew cab. I have the same 5 spring stack with a lower overload and 2 upper overloads that impact a bumper above the spring set.

Mike, Could you measure that up and lets compare the 06 to 05 stack? I feel like I have too much overload on mine at times. I am still in the design (saving $$) process for conversion to air bags. I should have done this when the truck was new, but oh well. It is time to rebreathe a little life into the old girl.

Dpending on your spring pack (weight/rpo) you can either have either 1 or 2 leaves on the upper overload. If you want you can just remove one of them.

The cab chassis 3500 trucks can have up to 4 leaves on the upper overload due to being set-up for a wrecker body or dump bed.

Mine is a 2005 dually. I had to add air bags and a stablizer right after I got rid of the General tires to make this rig carry my overhead camper properly. In fact, here are a few pictures with the 3,500 pound camper loading the setup: The air bags can go to 100psi but I run them at 70psi when loaded and 5psi if the bed is empty.
