I have a 95 2500 silverado. I need to fix the 6-way power drivers seat (won't move on rack, while I'm seated; kidney cushon dosn't work) and the passenger seat (both springs broken, got new ones but don't know where to hookup). Basicly, I need to know how to disassemble/reassemble the seats; think I and test the drivers-side electronics ok once it's apart. Hint? Guides?

TIA,

What dosnt work on the drivers seat? Up/down, front/back or the whole thing?

Passanger seat springs? Which springs? The whole thing is nothing more than a frame with a lot of springs.

1. Kidney cushion doesn't work at all. Suspect electrical or something in (what I'm told is a) pneumatic system from controls through cushion (leaky balloon?).
2. Back/forth motor works ok if seat empty; works with very light person if ithey 'help' it. Rack seems loose.
3. Up/down and tilt seem to work ok.

Opps - on passenger seat there appear to be 2 control springs (according to exploded diag. from dealer parts guy). Both springs were broken and hence seat will not slide forward when back tilted forward nor will seat slide forward when control bar (under seat front) is used. Problem here is (1) Do I have to take seat apart to reattach springs? (2) (Any) Hints as to how to just attach springs without complete disassemble?

So - has anybody been down the path before. Dealer service (manager, with won't let be talk to an actual mech.) says" :Just tighten everything up. Any there is no documentation so don't bother to get shop manuals - we just wing it." to paraphrase him.

Tried 2 dealers - parts guys say everyone talks to mechs. and they're willing just ask service manager. Service manager say we wing it and you cann't talk to mechs. Humbug!

Sounds like the motors are done on the drivers seat, I believe you have to get the entire riser assembly, thats the part the lower seat frame is attatched to. As for the back lumbar, I am guessing that you can hear the air pump run? There is an exhaust valve of sorts for letting the air out, might want to make sure that is not staying open, make sure there are no leaks in any of the hoses.

On the seat springs, I figure you are talking about spring that goes across from one seat track release to the other? They pretty much loop through a hole in either side and then have the other coil spring slide over the end to keep it from coming undone. However if the seat does not move when folding the back forward, you may have a broken seat back cable that actuates the release on the frame. The springs are easy with the seat unbolted from the floor.

Unfortunatly, generally the dealers do not get the older vehicles and I dont have any easy instructions to post for you. Been a while since I messed with the older seats.
