hi, ive been reading on this site for awhile but havent posted much. Ive got a 2004 GMC 2500HD reg. cab D/A. Im thinking about doing a few mods to my truck and was wondering how much torque the allison can handle before it starts to slip? thanks

many say around 60-70 hp with around 150 or so lbs to be safe. For instance, my predator will start chewing at the ally on the 85hp/180lb setting. many here on the DP run the 85 tune all the time with no problems..... Im not that brave:D
Many factors will determine your ally's lifespan... mods, towing, romping, general intown driving, maintainence.... all contribute. Ive only experienced the predator, and frankly I think the 85 tune is too violent. for around town driving... the 65 tune is aggressive and the 40 tune is smooth as butter. some of the regulars who have tried many different boxes/programmers will chime in... McRat is a member who I iknow has tried 'em all. look hiim up for specifics.
good luck on your "quest" if you start modding, get some descent gauges, EGT's will jump around a good bit. also lots of intel on this topic do a search for more...
