ok i got it to crank after changing the ignition module..but now it wont start..well it will if i crank it for 20 seconds but i think it should be able to start faster. plus i noticed my glow plugs only stay on for 3 seconds... could it be my solenoid.. if so is there a way i could bypass it and install a push button for the glow plugs

Three seconds glow time isn't long enough. Perhaps the inhibit switch is broken.

There's an article in the FAQ about how to install a push button, and there's a current thread here with a wiring diagram.

Do the pushbutton. I always did on all mine.

So your no start problem was the igniyion module eh? What a pain that thing is. where is it in the 6.2 anyhow?

its under the dash and you have to undo the steering column to get to it.... I changed the glow plug solinoid and now it stays on for like 5 seconds before it gos out then it cycles 3 times but they only stay on for half a sec when they cycle.. still takes forever to start

Did the truck always start well before. I'm assuming your weather is still in the 20's? if so 5 secs should be lots for the plugs and they should cycle a few times after the initial glow. how does it start after the truck is up to operating temps? When the truck does start does it idle really rough (my truck idles only slightly rougher than any gas truck i've owned, smoother than many i'e been in)? if it still takes a long time to start after the engine is hot it might be a fuel problem. If it starts easy you may have a few bad glowplugs. Apparently the only real way of testing glows is to remove them and look at them glowing. you can also test resistance while they're still in the truck.
Also if the starter is turning too slow it's difficult to impossible to start

You mean 20C? It's like 75F/24C here, and I glow 14 seconds (w/ 60Gs). It starts right up then. Coolant temp even was still above 130F after about 7 or 8 hours of sitting today.

Only 5 seconds might still be a little short? But it would be a good idea to check the glow plugs.

yeah 20c. at this temp my glows come on for MAYBE 5 secs and it fires up great. I have the stock glowplug setup and at this temp that's how long she glows. works ok for me. if my temp gauge is anywhere near 90 c my glows don't even come on, still fires great.
