Anyone who has any advice when installing this -- I would appreciate any help I can get.

I also had another question. If I put the pump in now -- would it be very hard to later add Trippin's billet fuel pickup? I have it, but don't have the time to install it when I do the fuel pump.

thanks

I'll be installing the harness this weekend (I hope, I've had it for a couple weeks), and the pump when it gets here. I'll be using the Carter pump that I bought a couple of weeks ago too( because I just could'nt wait:rolleyes: ) while the new pump orders are getting filled. I think I already have all the plumbing and elec. bits sorted out, just gotta crawl under it and do it! I'll try to get some pics too.

Some pics would be great. I think I might go the same route...

Only those with the JK's kit could make comments on its install.
However, I am in the process of installing SD lift pump kit. I am getting all parts in place before I actually splice into the fuel lines so I can still drive the truck. I'm slow.

Most kits are probably going to be similar.
In general: For my install, I placed my truck on four ramps. Easy to creep up on with 4 wheel drive. Truck is high enough to easily work on.
I will be moving fuel cooler to cut fuel line in the rear. Not sure yet exactly where I am cutting fuel line towards engine. Also, I had to buy a small tubing cutter because my longer one was to large.
On more thing, I have a tap into my boost line at the wastegate to run a hobbs switch. Hobbs switch will turn large pump on at set boost. I had to use teflon tape to prevent air leaks when I tested my air/boost connections at the hobbs switch. All testing was done on the bench. I put about 40lbs of pressure to my built system and had no air leaks after all said and done. Connections leaked without the teflon tape. Hope it is alright to use teflon here.

good luck,

Greg McCall

Depending where you choose to mount the pump(s) you will have to at least lower the tank. My best suggestion is to drop the tank and do the pickup and pump install all at once. The pump(s) can be easily plumbed into the hose that joins the fuel tank sending unit and the steel line behind the fuel cooler. I hope to have some details available soon, but I haven't been out much to burn my LB7 tank level down to a level easiy to handle. Not sure where the fuel level is on the LLY, but no doubt it is up there. My LB7 has prototype pumps mounted and needs things redone and spruced up as well as the full pickup install. The control harness is already installed and ready to go.

I should add that if a guy wanted to, he could insert the pump(s) in the OE hose with a simple snip. I added some install pics/notes on my site.

Thanks for the heads up... Can't wait till I get mine in. Would it be better to go the simple snip route, or install it where the billet pickup and -10an hose would be?

If you don't want to drop the tank to redo the sending unit with the Trippin setup you could just take the pickup bed off and do it from the top.

6 or 8 bolts is all that holds the bed down and a few wires for the taillights and 3 screws for the fuel filler, or just take the bolts from the drivers side out and loosen the pass side bolts and then just tilt the bed up on the drivers side. That way you don't have to worry about how much fuel you have.

Good Luck

I don't know how hard dropping the tank is, but it's got to be easier than that -- at least I hope.

My best suggestion is to do it from the start (pickup) and be done with it. That way you will not need to revisit this again.

Just a FYI, I should have a bunch of pumps here tomorrow. Should come pretty close to filling all back orders and then next week there will be plenty more available. I will do my best to get most of the orders assembled and shipped in Thursday's UPS. Time is short right now as we will be leaving for the Pull Off (other site) Wednesday PM...

 Sweet! Since I have somehow only found time to run the harness anyway, no need to remove the other pump!

All back orders have been filled. Instructions are still being massaged so if you have any questions be sure to call and leave a message if I don't get to it. I'm on the phone a lot and can only take 1 call at a time so if you leave a message I can call you back.

Mine is coming now -- I won't be able to install it for along time. So when you come up with instructions PM them to me please.

Mine showed up too.

Now I got to get to work and put it on.

JK would u feed the nictane w/ the pump or suck through it?

The only "wrong" way to mount these is stator (blue) up as this can leave a large pocket of air in the bowl. The preffered way is the blue hanging down. Location of pumpin relation to filter is a matter of personal preference, but I'd suggest mounting before any filters so that the filters are always pressurized. It would take a pretty good size chunk to stop or block these pumps.

These pumps will not prime themselves so I typically start the truck and run for a bit before starting the pumps. I started my LLY without priming, pumping, orbleeding anything after complete tank/sender removal and addition of the billet pickup assy. It ran and did not stall oreven show any signs of distress.
