the nv4500 is way outta my price range. That along with a decent clutch would be well over $2000 for a swap, even more for a 4X4 truck.

I belong to performancetrucks.net and have read many instances of nv3500 taking well over their max torque rating. A few even pushing 450 to the wheels in an 8.5"/3.73 axle.

linky.....http://www.performancetrucks.net/forums/showthread.php?t=429570

"Valeo and Luk both make a stock replacement for the nv3500 that I think they run about $270, If you price (http://www.performancetrucks.net/forums/showthread.php?t=429570#) it out from the dealer your going to be in the $800 range if I remember correctly, The clutch, slave and everything are all the same between the nv3500 you have and the nv4500 I have, 1-1/8 x 10 input shaft and same size, kinda funny that they use the same parts in a 1/2 ton 4.8 and 3/4 ton 6.0 that weighs 6000lbs. I guess thats why they hold up well behind the 4.8"

So is that boldie true?
i know for a fact the input shafts are the same too.

If so, a nv4500 6.5 clutch and flywheel could be used in combo with the nv3500 trans/6.5 Diesel, maybe even a 6.2 Diesel. How easy would that be? No special clutch parts to buy, no bellhosuing adapters/spacer, no special flywheel. No floor shifter mods..the list goes on.

Dont get me wrong the nv3500 is not a stout trans, but for the 2wd 6.2/6.5 1500, street oriented trucks here could really benefit from this swap.

here's more info related to swaping a manual trans behind your Diesel. 4X4 to.

If going into a 2WD 1500 that won't tow heavy with a basically stock engine it would probably work for awhile. Remember that the NV3500 was only offfered for a short time behind the 350 because it was chewing them up on a regular basis by the guys who towed and wheeled with there rigs.

well, the nv3500 was still put behind 4.8L/5.3L 1500 trucks even through and up to 2004. So they've been behind cam/head Lsx based engines, even one Magnacharged 4.8L truck. Pt.net member "sowaidi".

Yes towing with it behind a 6.2/6.5 would for sure put alot of strain on it. And the torque is what will grenade them.

I think we would need to test this to know for sure if its a viable option.

Info I haven't found yet.....
The input shaft differences (length wise) from year to year for the nv3500 and...
