My first question is are you guys having problems with your pit/idl arms on lifted trucks.
I have approx 4000 miles on my lift and I grabbed the tire yesterday while the truck was on the ground and I could shake the whole thing there was slop. I could see the pit/idl arm moving back and forth. I purchased the RCD because I heard alot of you guys talk highly of the lift. I didn't think this was going to happen so soon.
Any suggestions of what to do would be great or any upgrade kits, I'm a little bit dissapointed about this happening so soon.

BTW this truck has never seen dirt, 6000 miles on truck.

Should of put a D60 under it

I have been running supports on mine for some time now. While I don't think it's going top make them last 200,000 miles, it will be much better than the 5-20k they last now...

Thanks Kennedy, That kit looks so simple, thats going to help.
Also what is moog? aftermarket.
I'm not looking for something to last forever I knew I would need to replace balljoints etc after some time(this is not my first lifted chevy) but 4000 miles is a little soon

Are the moog heavier duty and if they are I should buy those before buying your kit. How long do you suppose you can get out of the front end with the kit,no off roading just normal driving.

Thanks Kennedy for replying

If yours are just rocking fore/aft, and there is no side-to-side play, you can put the supports on without replacing the pitman/idler. I did this on my truck, as well as a few customers, and it has worked out great. Better than new, in fact.

I have the RCD 6" on my 03 2500HD and ended up replacing the Upper A-arms with some from Cognito Motorsports. THe arms have bolt in Moog ball joints and I also installed Cognito's idle/pitman arm upgrade. I've got about 15k miles on them and everythings working great. The trucks tracks straighter and no more worn out bearings.

Call Justin at Cognito. Very knowledgable guy and decent prices.

WhippledHD--- did that change your turning radius

you can replace them with a different brand. i run the fabtech ones which are considerably larger/beefier. as they haven't been out for a long time longevity has yet to be proven but i believe they are rebuildable at least. just another option.

Diesel Power, where did you get the fabtech pitman arm. Are these for lifted trucks only,I don`t think you have a lift.

How much difference in the stabilizer shock?

Didn't affect my truning radius as far as I can tell. The key to the kit is that it double captures the connection joint, pretty slick little idea. Nothing fancy just a brace, a heim, and some cool shaped bolts. Took about 20 min to install in the driveway.

With larger tires, Do not steer when you are not rolling. There is less stress on the front end when you are rolling.

i got it from fabtech direct. i got another one from john at dps for a friend of mine. i don't have a lift. the stabilizer is stiffer, but i like it.

I installed the Fabtech idler and pitman arm along with SD center linkhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/rockon.gif . For you guys running around with cranked torsion bars or green keys that have a 4x4, {anything over than stock}, I strongly suggest this setup. I think adding just the center link alone might save your stock steering parts just cause it no longer twists anymore when 4WD is engaged and pulling. JMHO

JMB

Did you lose any turning radius with you fab and sd parts?

J M B

I did lose some, but I think I have read somewhere that it because of the new steering damper. I think with the beefier parts they will come in contact with the frame without it.

J M B, were those stock arms or Moogs?

J M B

When I do mine I'll show fabtechs & moogs, waiting to get the SD center link to do the fabtechs.
