My question is this, how does a lift kit affect your towing capactiy and performance? Will it cause problems? I am looking to get a 6in lift on my 02 duramax diesel. If it will cause problems towing then i think i will just go with a leveling kit. Thanks for any help

alot of people on this site and elswhere will tell you not to tow with a lifted truck . i have owned 5 defferent chevy trucks all have been lifted and i have towed with all of them . i run 38 inch tires on my truck now and have never had a problem . i tow a 10,000 pound travel traler . the only difference is you will be a little slower off the line because of the bigger tires . no big deal . you will not be able to tow a 5th wheel if your tires are over 35 inch . you also have the option of flipping the axels on your traler which i would not do . if you are going to be towing a 15,000 trailer all the time i would probly be against a big lift . otherwise i dont see a problem .

I tow all the time with my lifted truck. 12K lb toy haluer, no problems. Just realize tire size affects final gear ratio so if you go over 35's you might need to ge-gear.

I agree with the 2 previous posts. I have lifted all of trucks and have towed with all of them. Right now I tow a rockcrawler/small travel trailer/utility trailer/boat with no problems . Just keep in mind larger tires take a little longer to stop. I only tow maybe 4-5 times a month. If I was a full time RVer I don't think I would lift. Just think about what and how often you are going to tow.
