I have noticed the brakes on my 2500HD are not very heavy duty. The first time notieced this was when I rented a Bobcat and the trailer's surge brakes we inop. The truck had a very had time stoping without the help of the trailer(guessing the total weight was 14,000 +/-). Then just the other day I rented a car dolly(no trailer brakes) with my wife's focus on it the brakes on my 2500 were not as strong as I would have liked.
Has anyone else noticed this or is it just me. :o:

I bet it's just you. I was surprised how good the brakes were on these trucks, the brake harness came unplugged on my old 5er weighing 15k, didn't realize it until going downhill with a stoplight at the bottom. Sure- it took a good bit of pressure on the pedal, but stopped in time with no surprises. Maybe you need to have them checked out? I pulled a homemade trailer with 17k lbs of rock and no trailer brakes, it was only on the back roads about 10 miles, but also stopped it with no problem.

I towed a buds dakota back on a trailer we use to haul our bobcats and didnt find the brakes lacking using only the truck brakes. I know it was very stupid of me ect but I did so without trailer brakes. I know, very bad, put every one at risk, buds truck being broke down was no excuse to do something so stupid. I did it though, survived and will say do as I say and not as I do.

Maybe I did not have the bobcat loaded properly. Maybe I did not have enough tongue(?) weight. It was the first time I noticed it....so, it could have been user error. I'll just have to keep a eye on it.
Thanks for the feedback

Just a thought, but...
You're used to air brakes on your semi man!
Hit brakes too hard = eat steering wheel! ):h
Hmmm..I wonder if a conversion could be done on these trucks?

I agree, the truck brakes are great. They take a bit more pressure, but they will stop the truck and trailer.
Now my wife's car brakes, that is a different story. After driving the truck and getting into her car, I always forget they are more touchy (require less peddle pressure) and end up eating the steering wheel on the first use.
