I had a spring shop add 1 leaf to my 2002 shortly after I got it. They just chose a matching off the shelf leaf and added it in. Prior to installing it they arched all of the free leaves up about 1.5"

I should add that these guys do the arching "old school" by hand with a hammer and anvil...

I feel that the extra spring rate helps the first rate and adds separation between the 1st and second stages which makes the truck ride better than stock.

AirSkeeter,

Are you referring to the Rancho add a leafs? If so, I will be very interested in hearing your opinion.

Thanks,

What about having the overload spring flattened out so there is more clearance between it and the rest of the pack, or as I have seen on here flipping it upside down (I would only do this to try it). I don't want or need more ride height or capacity. Or does it need the extra leaf i.e. spring rate, to ride better.

I got the Pro-Comp add-a-leafs for $50. They work great and installed very easily. Unfortunately, I don't have the part #. I just called 4 Wheel Parts, told them what I had and they ordered them for me. I can't tell any difference in the ride but it lifted the back of the truck almost 2" to give me just a small amount of rake. I had previously leveled the truck with the torsion bars but after adding all my tools and bed cover, the rear started to sag. The add-a-leafs corrected the problem perfectly.
