I Got an 07 classic started to notice some rattling noise when I stop the truck. Got under there and noticed my 5" MBRP muffler iis ripping at the front seams top and bottom blowing exhaust out. Now I have about 95,000 miles on the exhaust but I painted it black when I first got it.
So my question is? Is this normal or should it last allot longer???
Anybody have suggestions for new muffler I like the current sound and love the whistle could do without the drone though

I don't see any rust..looks like the welds came off. probably a bad weld job, or had contaminants while welding. have you contacted MBRP yet? just curious if they would replace it for you or split the cost or something... doesn't hurt to ask.

Gonna call them tomorrow and maybe send them some pics. I think I bought it from Disturbed one of the forum sponsors I need to figure out the purchase date.

CStevenson... It's funny you post asking this. I have a LMM truck with 5" mbrp exhaust. It has been on my truck for about 25k miles now. I climbed under the truck this weekend and saw the same this welds are busted apart on the inlet side of the muffler and exhaust leaking out just as yours is. I was thinking about calling MBRP myself.

Have you tried flipping the muffler around one why I think it is suspost to be quieter then the other?

Is it the aluminized steel or stainless ? Because I believe the stainless has a lifetime warranty on it.Did you have everything lined up straight when you tightened it down? Just a thought, cause the clamp looks like it's not sitting straight and I'm wondering if it placed any extra strain on the muffler.Although it still shouldn't have done that.

Mines turned the quiet way.
It's aluminized there is no strain the hole on top was about the size of a quarter. I didn't realize it was so big until I went to weld it up
What a POS!!! It's welded it up. The end.

Things fail. Your muffler has rotted out. Maybe the drain hole wasn’t at the bottom? In any case I would still replace it as the innards are just as shot. Sounds like they will warranty it for free.
So why ask for trouble?

What trouble am I asking for? The guy I got it from doesn't have records that far back so I went to my bank they said they would send me my bank statements in the mail (Bank of America). I have no Idea how long thats gonna take meanwhile it was getting worse and rattling all the time so I welded it back up

How can u tell the quiet side and the loud side? Also where is the drain hole located?

Mine has little pieces of metal that catch the exhaust flow. Just set it in the direction where it slows the exhaust flow.
