Replace the dummy fuse with a 30A in the "Stud 1" position in the underhood fuse box. That should do it...

X2 or you can go to Napa and with a couple short peices of wire and blade connectors you can put in a 30 amp breaker. I went this route because i was always blowing the fuse due to the excessive draw. The breaker automatically resets itself and continues charging.

Here this may help. I got this from www.gmupfitter.com (http://www.gmupfitter.com) there is some great information on this site.

OK, I have a more in depth question.

I understand the part about getting power to the constant 12V pin in the trailer plug.

But, the camper I pull has batteries in it. The object is to have them being charged when driving.

But, now we have two batteries under the hood, and two in the camper, theoretically all parallel. How does the voltage regulator deal with this?

I don't want to cook any of them....

I wouldn't think they would hurt a thing since the batteries are in a parallel config.

Parallel battery circuit- More batteries you add the Voltage stays the same but Current increases

Series Battery circuit- More batteries you add the Voltage increases but the Current stays the same.

Baja Outlaw is correct with one minor correction. A parallel configuration increases the available current capacity. The current draw does not increase unless the load increases.

Very true, thanks

I know the hooking up in and of itself is not a problem. What I am thinking about is when the camper batteries are seriously discharged, say 50% and the truck batteries full.

1 What will the voltage regulator "see", and 2: if it goes into full bore charge, will that cook the truck batteries? Or will it all level to the "lowest spot" untill all is full?

The voltage is controlled by the truck batteries-- when they are fully charged-- the amps is reduced and the system goes to lower charge-- it will never go to a max charge because of the low charge of the trailer batteries. :D
