I have an 05 duramax with less than 2k miles. Ever since brand new, the a/c compressor makes a racket. Whenever it turns on, it sounds like a bunch of marbles in a can. Is this typical or should I look for a warranty claim?

I'd suggest you take a trip to the dealer. Other than the compressor clutch engaging I don't hear anything from mine.

I would for sure take it to the dealer, sounds like maybe there is no oil in the system, so you are hearing the compressor clattering. Make sure, if you have been using it a lot, that they replace the compressor because it will fail if it has had no oil in it. IMHO
