has anyone seen any research data on how power enhancements affect the longevity of our diesel (specifically LB7) engines? ... we currently have over 88,000 miles on ours and it has been on Juice (of various strengths) for well over 60,000 miles ... it appears to be in excellent shape but I can't help but wonder what if/any affect on its lifespan that Juicing it will have

Got Juice?

Caterpillar did a study on that. Typically the higher the HP, the shorter the lifespan. Interestingly enough their conclusions and test data supported that More fuel burned = more HP = shorter life. Not because of bottom end failure, but rather failure by damage from contaminated fuel causing injector failures/ deposits on injectors causing poor atomization.

And then there is the drivetrain....
However there is a more definitive study on HP vs the fun factor!

If this engine can withstand the abuse that Kingd, Got Juice, and Mtomac gives it, it should be a ok for most everyone else.
Mtomac has over 100,000 miles on his with 500+ rwhp for most of those miles. and he has hooked to the sled maybe 75 times, and run it in the 1/4 miles well over 100 times. He did get new after market injectors, and turbo, but as far as I know, the truck didn't need either of those items.

LMAO
Wait until we sell the trucks....I can read the ad now.
"Responsible Adult Driven (YA RIIIGHT) Low Low Miles (1/4 mile drags, sled pulls only) Never driven in rain or snow (Can't race the 1320 in either, or a pull) Needs Nothing; ALWAYS dealer maintained (Turbo replaced a few times, U Joints) Transmission shifts tight like new (New rebuilt stock trans in, when this POS sells my 6K Trans is going into my next one) Washed religiously every week (only to knock the 'track' residue off) Many Extras included (H2 Rims, Traction Bars, Gauges) You won't find many in this shape for this price (SUCKER)
Call in the morning for viewing by appointment only (Need the advance warning so as not to conflict with pulling or dragracing, dyno events and besides I gotta wash the evidence off!):h )

interesting and can see the logic behind the findings ... however, with our truck we get a mile or so a gallon better mileage when the truck is on Juice so over an equal distance our truck will burn less fuel ... secondly, we have also run a post-OEM Mega filter so the fuel getting into our engine should be pretty clean
can also understand the comments about pressure on the drive train and the outstanding performance folks like Mtomac and you have experienced out of your trucks
the comment about the fun factor is also dead on ..:ro) . do appreciate the responses
