Am I right that the Copilot "tricks" the Allison's TCM to allow firmer shifts? If this is true will the computer eventually re-learn and override the Copilot?

Yes, I have heard that it will. All you have to do is leave it turned off for normal driving, then turn it on when you want to lay into it.
