Before I get started, yes I know I'm an idiot. My stupidity got me in the position that I'm in. I had the truck lifted off of the ground to rotate the tires. Since I've only had the truck a few days and haven't used 4x4 yet, I thought that I'd give it a try. I put the truck in four wheel low and tapped the throttle. I then heard a grinding noise from the rear axle. I realized that my parking brake had been on. When I get out of the truck to look I see that the rotor is bound up at an angle with the drum. The parking brake wont release and everything is bound up. Some broken parts fell out of the assembly so I know my parking brake is trash. What do you guys think I need to do? It seems that only one side is messed up? Any idea what this ordeal will cost me? thanks in advance

Have the dealer come pick it up and tell them parking brake wouldn't release.

Make sure that you get it down off of the stands before the dealer comes to get it.

Yup...Plauasible deniability...You only know the parking brake would not release and it left a few extra parts in your driveway...Let the Dealer prove you wrong.

This rant is just so everyone realizes why our trucks are so expensive to begin with. If you take these guys seriously, your committing fraud.
sorry about your truck. Sounds like you need a new parking brake assembly.

So...when our trucks are down for injectors for a month or the dealer can't find anything wrong with a truck that has an obvious problem just cause the scanner shows no codes.....thats fraud too I guess.

Hey, I have driven with the P brake on by accident and never broke anything. I do not think his having it in 4x4 and dropping it in gear had anything to do with it. sounds more like somthing was broken and looking for a most inconvinient time to fail.
interesting thought though .. did this happen on the stands with the wheel's off???

Or maybe the wheel holds the rotor to the proper alingment, and without the rotor being held tight, it got cocked and tore some $hit up.

That is exactly what happened. Bought the truck used and out of warranty period so I wasn't able to commit the fraud (unfortunately). Almost $900 later I know better.

probably can just pull rotor off and reassemble park brake adjuster pieces
